AI Engineer · Built into the DAW

AI Mixing. AI Mastering. Mixing + Mastering.

The AI Engineer is part of the DAW. It listens to your tracks with their plug-ins, measures them and suggests the smallest change that solves the problem. You decide what is applied - and every change can be undone.

The AI Engineer in Engineer Factory: measurements of the master output with integrated loudness, true peak, crest factor and correlation

Three modes

Choose what the AI Engineer works on

The same approach in all three modes: it measures, it suggests, you decide.

MIXING

AI Mixing

In MIXING mode the AI Engineer works on your mix: it measures your tracks and suggests changes you apply one by one.

MASTERING

AI Mastering

In MASTERING mode it works on the master: it measures it and suggests the steps - each with its values before and after.

MIXING + MASTERING

Mixing + Mastering

MIXING + MASTERING combines both in one pass: first the mix, then the master.

How it works

Five steps - and you stay in control

  1. Say what you hear or want

In your own words, in English or German - or start an assistant for track, mix, vocals, drums, bass or master.

  2. It listens and measures

Your tracks are analysed with their plug-ins: tone, loudness, dynamics, stereo image, resonances and masking.

  3. It suggests the smallest fix

Each suggestion shows what it is based on. Ask for an explanation before you apply anything.

  4. You apply

All suggestions at once or one at a time. Until then, nothing in your project changes.

  5. Every step can be undone

Each applied change is listed with its values before and after - and can be undone on its own.

CopyFX · Vocal reference matching

Match your vocal to a reference

Found a vocal sound you love? Import the song or the vocal stem. CopyFX analyses the reference vocal, compares it with yours and builds a plug-in chain that brings your vocal closer to it.

CopyFX in Engineer Factory: the reference vocal, the target track and the match with scores for brightness, warmth, presence and air
  1. Import a reference

A vocal stem or a full mix. From a full mix, the vocal is isolated automatically - with a confidence rating, so you know how reliable the result is.

  2. See what shapes the sound

Tone, compression, de-essing, saturation, reverb, delay, stereo width and the vocal's place in the mix - all shown as clear estimates.

  3. Get a matching chain

CopyFX shows the match in percent and builds a chain with your own plug-ins where they fit, otherwise with the built-in ones - and tells you which.

  4. Dial it in

The strength slider sets how far to go. Preview with A/B, apply it as one step you can undo, then analyse again.

  • A feature-vocal mode that matches a feature vocal to your lead
  • Everything is saved with your project

The most precise results come from a vocal stem. From a full mix, reverb and stereo width in particular are harder to estimate.

Examples

What you can ask

The AI Engineer understands requests in English and German.

  • Make the vocal warmer
  • Why is the mix muddy?
  • Fix the masking between the bass and the kick
  • Build me a vocal chain
  • Make the master louder without destroying the dynamics
  • Give the drums more punch
  • Create a bus for all drums
  • Show me the loudest track
  • Find all plug-ins causing latency
  • Let the kick drive the compressor on the bass

Reference track

Compare your mix with a reference

Load a reference track and switch between it and your mix at matched level - so you compare the sound, not the volume.

  • A/B comparison at matched level
  • AI comparison of your mix with the reference

Plug-in control

Works with the plug-ins you use

The AI Engineer adjusts built-in and third-party plug-ins - and is open about its limits:

  • Built-in plug-ins are set precisely.

  • Selected third-party VST3s are controlled directly through their own parameters.

  • All other VST3s are handled in a general way. If the AI Engineer cannot control a plug-in, it tells you.

  • It uses the plug-ins already on the track and adds built-in ones where needed.
  • It recognises lead, feature, double, harmony, ad-lib and backing vocals by the track name.

The whole chain in view

It knows your chain before it changes it

The AI Engineer sees each track's complete plug-in chain: the order, the settings, bypass, side-chains and which plug-ins are missing.

  • Prefers adjusting an existing plug-in over adding a new one
  • Can reorder plug-ins and set up side-chains
  • Lists every change: track, plug-in, position, parameter, old and new value
  • Every change can be undone

You stay in control

What it never does

No hidden changes

Nothing in your project changes until you apply a suggestion.

Only the DAW's own functions

The AI Engineer works through the DAW's built-in functions and never runs arbitrary code.

Your audio stays with you

The analysis runs on your computer. Your audio is never uploaded.

Completely optional

The DAW works fully without the AI Engineer.

Engineer Factory · Licence

Included in every licence

AI Mixing, AI Mastering and Mixing + Mastering are not an extra tier or an add-on: they are part of the DAW and included in the monthly, the yearly and the Lifetime licence.
